If anyone has DVR on their cable if you turn to the movie trailers you'll see in the coming soon column the remake of the 1980 classic Friday The 13th is coming to theatres nationwide on that day. Plus the most anticipated Resident Evil 5 will be launching for The Xbox 360 & The PS3 on the exact same day.
I watched the trailer of the upcoming Friday remake and I have mixed emotions about it. I mean really the very 1st Friday film was the best of them all by far. Jason's mom was one of the best killers ever.
This time around its going to be all Jason with the hockey mask as well. I dunno, I'm still skeptical on will this movie truly bring justice to the Friday legacy. Me & some of my crew plan to go see the movie and go pick up out copies of RE5 when the movie is over. I think RE5 is going to be one hell of a game.
So what do you guys think about the upcoming Friday remake or RE5? Hit or miss for either?

I'll pass on the Friday the 13th remake. Jason and Freddie have been caricatured to the point where they both could guest star on Sesame Street. Jason and Freddie krueger are like Britney Spears. How can you make a comeback, when you never went away? I admit that I would be interested in an Evil Dead, Phantasm, or Poltergeist remake.
Anyone remember this??

Once upon a time the slasher genre was cutting edge. Friday the 13th, Elm St., Halloween, Happy Birthday to Me, My Bloody Valentine, Prom Night, etc.... each one upped the ante in terms of twists and gore to the point where it got ridiculous, but it was a good time at the movies. The Scream series pumped some life back into it, but it's a genre that's been done to death, excuse the pun. The core fans though will always be there though. I assume you're one Neo.
A Phantasm remake would be awesome though. Way underrated. Poltergeist was so well done, a remake of that would be iffy I think.

i want a remake of Carnasaur. Or something just as lame, like Silent Night, Deadly Night.
Also, kind of on-topic, last year sometime, a very small film crew was shooting a movie called the New Mexico Weed Whacker Massacre, and I had a small role as the guy who gives directions to the swimming pool(one line only). So anyways, I had totally forgot about it until one of my friends saw a preview for it on youtube, and sent me the link. It was a no-budget movie with nothing but local "talent", but still it was cool that I got to be in it. If they even used my scene, that is. :)

T. Tashi, we must be around the same age. Happy Birthday to me, Prom Night, etc were terrible but memorable movies, that I will always cherish. Then Cuddly mentions Silent Night Deadly Night, I think I need to dig out the old VCR, and VHS tapes. Silent Night, Deadly Night probably is the perfect candidate for a remake. The original sucked so bad, the remake can only be better. Also Santa is freaky!

Uh oh I'm telling my age. :blush2:
I have a bunch of stuff on vhs in the basement that I told myself I would transfer to dvd, but it's a pain and I just haven't been in the mood to do it.
Man I want to make a feature length horror movie so bad. But it's like skating uphill. I admire anyone who can get it done. Weed Whacker looks to have some decent production values. I'm curious tho. I saw it on createspace and it said it hadn't been shown at any festivals. Did the filmmakers decide not to do any festivals at all?

I keep reading about a different control scheme option for RE5, but until I find out exactly what it is, I'm keeping the game on the wait and see list, especially after the lack of enjoyment I found in both versions of RE4 (Wii and GC).
