Well, I certainly hope this game plays better than it looks. After all the hub-hub about this game, I decided to take a look at exactly what is supposed to provide competition to PGR2 and GT4 for PS2. LOL this is GC's answer? Well, let's look at what is wrong with this picture. It is not the fact that Mario Kart is kiddy and has the kiddy graphics, that is cool, there are many next generation games that use cell shading, animation, etc. that look great. But this game just looks cheezy, the backgrounds look awful, can't judge the effects, but the backgrounds look really silly. It looks almost as if it barely outpaces the Dreamcast.
But again, it likely the gameplay will pick up the slack for the presentation. Because there is no way this game can compare with PGR2 and GT4 in terms of presentation. Now, before you say what fool would compare those games with these, well the GC fans did saying this game would blow away PGR2.
After you become bored to tears with the simple single player element, you get to look forward to 4 player split screen, lol. My gosh, can you even system link the cube? I mean, I hope you can at least system link this darn thing. 4 player split screen, people still do that? This is Nintendo's answer to XBOX Live? Even PS2 stepped up and realized they had to put GT4 online, albeit with only what 4 cars? Someone had the nerve to say, 4 player split screen is what multiplayer is all about and that he stills plays the Mario Kart64 to this day in multiplayer? Are you serious, well you maybe and maybe you'll be playing this one also with your grandmother, but the rest of the world will be online playing in ranked competition, in leagues, and in tournaments, why you try and beat your girlfriend in Mario.
And to think, this is your sole hope for the entire XMAS season? This is sad and pathetic. All you get is Mario Kart4. The last good game you got was Viewtiful Joe. That is two good games in 6 months. Sad.
After KOTOR,CrimsonSkies, TopSpin, R6, TrueCrime, GTA:DP, we get CounterStrike, DeuxEx2, PGR2, SegaGT:Online.
And for all those people declaring they are happy they get to play the best game on the XBOX, finally on their PC. And that they can finally play KOTOR in a week. Be happy, enjoy. XBOX fans are way over and beyond Halo, way over and beyond KOTOR. I'm happy I don't have to spend 50 hours playing KOTOR this fall, I can play Dues Ex2. And Halo that was in 2000, and you finally get to play it. Meanwhile u gotta buy a hyper PC to do it. We get to play the best game on PS2, both of them, not on the PC, but on the XBOX. But, I won't even be playing it, lol, cause there are too many better games on XBOX and LIVE. Sorry Rockstar, you should did this last year!

And to be honest it was fun.Just like the Mario Kar wast on the N64.It looks alot better and the framerate indeed is much better as well.It controlled flawlessly, and it truly will make a great party game to play with alot of people.
Plus this time out you can have two characters riding in one car.I chose the sweet plumber bros.Mario and Luigi.Mario drives while Luigi throws the shells and the Banana peels. Its a fun game if you've never played it before. But if you've played the N64's version of the game then it'll be nothing new to you.
But like you said there are so many other racing games on the horizon that'll erase this game from your memory quick.Just think how much more this game could've been if it wouldve been online. But thats why we have the Xbox.

Well I'm willing to bet that MKDD gets better reviews and sells more copies than PGR2. GT4 will possibly beat them both, we'll have to wait and see.
And BTW the name is Mario Kart: Double Dash. If anything it would be Mario Kart 3 because it's the 3rd installment in the Mario Kart series.

PGR was crap and Double Dash looks 10x better than PGR2. Daman doesn't know what he's talking about. All I can say to Daman is this, whatever Daman is on, I'll have 2 of them. LOL!
But, seriously, GT4 is looking good. I am going to get that Demo for it...

I wouldn't doubt that MarioKart sells more than PGR2. GCN users have nothing else to buy, so they will en masse support this title, as is the case with most Nintendo 1st party games. But, i'll guarantee you this, by Spring into Summer people will still be playing and buying PGR2 on LIVE, and MarioKart will be another forgotten Nintendo game like Mario Sunshine.
And Folken, MarioKart looks 10X better than PGR2, the first game was crap...and i'm on something? Stop smokin that crack!

Is everyone on this forum going to lower themselves to reporting people at the drop of a hat? Next thing you know people will say they're offended by some of the conversations here, and that we need to strive to be "politically correct", which that statement happens to be the biggest oxymoron ever uttered. Extreme PC'ness has been blow way out of proportion in the last decade-and-a-half, and is just one of many factors leading towards society's downward spiral.
What's happening here? System Wars was the last bastion of free speech, where you could speak your mind and not have to worry about someone taking it personally. I'm not saying that everyone should just flame away, but people need to grow a pair. A joke is a joke...regardless of the childish vendetta some might have against certain posters here and will look for any means to get someone in trouble who doesn't agree with their views.
Maybe I'm overreacting because I'm sick of seeing this whole world go to hell. Everyone gets "offended" by stupid crap that doesn't even concern them, just to be self-righteous, or worse, just to make money on a retarded lawsuit (99.9% of all lawsuits are baseless).
That's all I have to say, I'm sure somebody will probably report me for this too. Well, if I am, then whoever is responsible...I hope you take a good long look at yourself when you fall off your high horse and realize that your concerns are no more important than those around you.
BTW...this post is NOT directed at only the person I'm replying to. It's a general message and nothing more. If it's taken any other way, it's being taken the wrong way, simple as that.

Woah, dude, you're reading way too much into this thing. This thing between Glockstar and myself is exactly that - between Glockstar and myself. Which, now, should be solved and we can just drop the issue.
Keep this in mind though, this is a different kind of System Wars nowadays. In the past it was perfectly exceptable to enter long drawn-out flame wars, and throw nasty insults back and forth. Now it isn't acceptable.
Just read post # 8 and tell me what it has to do with the topic of this thread - hell, I wasn't even talking to the dude and he attacks me. Does that post seem constructive to you? How about mature, is that a mature post? I really don't care if someone attacks my arguments, or just plain doesn't like me, but, this is different.
In this case, I felt like I was being provoked and antagonized into retaliating with some insults, and therefore would have put myself in a position to be banned from this site. So instead I reported him. Does this mean I was trying to get Glockstar banned? Not at all. This is more of a "message" to him - that I don't want anything to do with him.

I stated that in my post. This was not the first report to the mods I've seen on this site, which in my personal opinion wasn't fully warranted, but that's just me. Your post just happened to be there and peak a rant of mine that's been a long time coming. We all know where this originated from, I just don't want it to become everyone's habit the minute someone pisses them off.
You say you've got your reasons, that's fine. I'm not even going to delve into that, I was just stating my opinion on the current state of things. I will agree that flame wars are bad, but I don't see anything wrong with a little fun here and there. Maybe I don't know enough about the situation between you and Glockstar, but my post wasn't wholly based on that to begin with.
If I have a problem with someone, I'll bring it up with them, and if I feel it's pointless talking to that person, there's the handy-dandy ignore. The only time I would consider reporting someone is if it became personal...meaning that someone had some personal information on me and decided to share it with the world, or threaten me (seriously) in any way, shape or form. But that's just me and the way I go about things. Apparently our methods differ and that's that. I have no personal beef with you, just expressing my opinion. But my hat's off to you for not responding defensively, as is the case with many.

Well, nobody has to worry about me "ratting them out" to the mods. This thing between Glockstar and myself has been going on a very long time, since the old system wars forum. So, yeah, that post, by itself, isn't enough to warrant reporting him to the mods, but when you look at the big picture, it kind of is.
You say you've got your reasons, that's fine. I'm not even going to delve into that, I was just stating my opinion on the current state of things. Well, I've tried befriending him, reasoning with him, and pleading with him, yet he made the choice to keep antagonizing me - so reporting him was my "last ditch attempt". Yes, the "ignore" function is there, but I'll get to that in a minute.
If I have a problem with someone, I'll bring it up with them, and if I feel it's pointless talking to that person, there's the handy-dandy ignore. Well, the thing with the "ignore" function is this - I don't have one single person in my ignore list. Not one. Not even Fragmaster or Xboxster, although they would be prime candidates.
The reason being happens to be something that you touched on in your previous post - free speech. I guess I don't agree with "ignoring" people because I don't like what they say. I think even the most infantile among us can have entertaining things to say and, therefore, I give everybody a chance - even if I don't like them. Plus, if I did put Glockstar on my "ignore" list, I would effectively let him insult me continually "behind my back".

Let me just throw in my 2 cent here. How is it wise really? So basically, what SCP is doing here is to set his standard/definition of what's personal for Trebor. He is lecturing him right now because, and quite obviouly, he doesn't think what glockstar's doing to trebor is personal enough. But, who's to make that decision other than trebor himself?
Now, the report function is there. I hope it is meant to be used at some point? It's like now mods on one hand says "glockstar, stop bothering trebor", the on the other you say "trebor was annoying. I'm not quite sure I understand you 100%, but I'm surprisd trebbor hasn't told you to "mind your own business".
See here's my thing... trebor is a huge hypocrite... and a bigger baby.
He didn't report me to the mods because I personally "attracked" him, he reported me to the mods because he didn't like my point. True, in making that point, I laughed at him, and made him look foolish; but it's not really the revealer (in this instance... me) that he has a problem with, it's what's being revealed.
He has some serious acceptance problems. In addition to that, he is not able to seperate disagreeing from disliking, or agreeing with liking. For him the two mean the same thing. And he's ok with you, and himself, as long as you, and what you have to say, agree with him - but if you don't...
What's sad here, is that it's okay for him to post and respond like a jerk towards someone, but it's not okay for anyone else to be respond to him with anything other than niceties. I mean, look at all of his replies to me over the past couple of weeks - either direct, indirect, or implied. His whole purpose for posting lately has been to try to upstage me or make me look bad - which includes many, many, libelous statements (including callimg me a liar). The thing is, is that I've been okay with it; I've been able to take it. Because I don't take any of this stuff that seriously... we're taking about videogames, toys, and hobbies, here people... this isn't about legal or politcal issues, major ethical dilemas, or sharing the Word of God!
It's obvious that trebor is putting too much into this. This!?! He has, somehow, become emotionally involved in his fight for Nintendo/fight against Micrsoft. So this is his latest tactic... to try to "even the playing field", by having the posting priveleges of his greatest "adversaries" removed; or at least handicapped. And maybe that way - without any opposition - he can then finally get a win. So be careful what you say to him! If he doesn't like it, he may file a complaint against you too!
P.S.
Hmmm, I wonder if he'll file a complaint about this post?!?
This post is not a repsonse to him...
but... I don't believe, for one second, that that has anything to do with it - it's all about whether he disagrees/dislikes it. We'll see...

We'll see...</div>
I don't see why Trebor would. What is happening between you and trebor is really your business. I wasn't talking about why he reported you or whether it was right for him to do so. I was wondering what our Mod was saying by agreeing with SCP.

Well, the "mind your own business" thing was another joke.
Hmmm, I see that we don't share the same sense of humor...
With regards to the mods...
I gotta tell you folken, I agree with them. I agree with E.T., and I agree with Lara. And I'm the one that got scolded!
Why do I agree with them? Because if the thinking is, that if someone is going to have a problem with another person replying to them, and it would be (the next) best thing if that person stopped replying - then I'm going to go along with that. It's for the good of the board.
Of course, what many here are probably thinking is that if it's just one person that's having this problem, then the best thing here really would be for that one person with the problem to just simply ignore the person replying to them. Which I agree with also.
I'll comply with the mods request. But I still don't think it's going to change anything. trebor is still going to have a problem with what I have to say... whether I say it to him, or somebody else. And that's the problem that needs fixing.
It's an issue of accountability.
And of responsibility. And I'm sure the mods are thinking, 'Why us, again? Why are we being dragged into this, when this probably could have been settled, or even avoided, earlier without our involvement? I mean, was this really a case for the "report this post" thingamajiggy to be used?' Which are good questions, I think.
Glockstar has a handle on it, & so does Spastic Colon Powell .
Look again @ a portion of SCPs quote that sums up 3 tools available to all users who are having a clash w/others:
[1] "If Im having problems, I'll bring it up w/them [2] & if I feel its pointless talking to the other person, theres the hand dandy ignore. [3] The only time I would consider reporting someone is if it became personal.." Quote by SCP
These 3 points are wise words, wise because if used, they ensure the continued use of SW board.
Resolving issues amongst each other by use of [#1] PM feature, or in worse case, using [#2] IGNORE feature, keeps [#3] mods from getting involved in personal clashes...but many of you guys already know all this, right? ;)

I am sure I would get that joke without a problem if we speak to each other in person. But, on a message board like this, you kind ahave to make it more obvious than that.
It is like this. If I were the mod of this board, things like this will not bother me. It's not like people click the complaint buttons for fun every single day. I see a complain, I look at your posts and trebor's post. If I felt that your comments were getting too personal like Trebor had claimed, I would tell you to back off. Lara probably felt that way and told you so. I don't see that is anything to be complained about. Just go as far as trebor would in a post when you post. It shouldn't be that hard.

Perhaps. I only replied based on what you've quoted. But, yes, I agree that there are ways to get around. But, it would never get personal if you have the person on ignore list, no?

He didn't report me to the mods because I personally "attracked" him, he reported me to the mods because he didn't like my point
What point? What you posted was a flame pure and simple. It had nothing to do with the topic, nor was what I said directed towards you. In fact, you flamed me because I made a sarcastic comment to Tappy. I don't mind if you have an argument to give me, but flaming for flame sake isn't allowed here anymore. And you're a flamer, pure and simple. Or a troll - whichever one you prefer.
True, in making that point, I laughed at him, and made him look foolish; but it's not really the revealer (in this instance... me) that he has a problem with, it's what's being revealed.
HA. I think people can take their own intrepretations from what you post - and they aren't always going to be what you want them to be.
He has some serious acceptance problems. In addition to that, he is not able to seperate disagreeing from disliking, or agreeing with liking. For him the two mean the same thing. And he's ok with you, and himself, as long as you, and what you have to say, agree with him - but if you don't...
Actually I disagree with people quite a bit and still get along with them quite well. In those cases there is the element of mutual respect - I may not agree with people, but I respect them and their opinions.
You, on the other hand, have shown your abundant lack of respect, not just for me, but for anyone that happens to choose a certain gaming system over the others. So, therefore, I have no respect for you. Funny how things work.
What's sad here, is that it's okay for him to post and respond like a jerk towards someone, but it's not okay for anyone else to be respond to him with anything other than niceties.
Hmmm...is that so? Give me one example. Just one. Keep in mind that I don't respond to anyone the same way I respond to you.
I mean, look at all of his replies to me over the past couple of weeks - either direct, indirect, or implied. His whole purpose for posting lately has been to try to upstage me or make me look bad - which includes many, many, libelous statements (including callimg me a liar).
Little full of yourself, are ya'? The System Wars do not revolve around Glockstar - remember that. Oh...and you are a liar.
The thing is, is that I've been okay with it; I've been able to take it. Because I don't take any of this stuff that seriously... we're taking about videogames, toys, and hobbies, here people... this isn't about legal or politcal issues, major ethical dilemas, or sharing the Word of God!

Okay, now I know you are full of yourself. I post here because I have very boring day job and I like videogames, and that's all. A few things to keep in mind...
(A) - I was not intending to have you banned or your posting privledges removed - just to send you a message.
(B) - You are hardly my "greatest adversary". Hell, you don't even debate with me - the second you start losing you "disappear" from the thread.
So be careful what you say to him! If he doesn't like it, he may file a complaint against you too!
Nope, nobody has to worry about me filing a complaint against them...except you, that is. I don't have a problem with anybody else...not even Mass.
P.S.

Okay, so now your just being a hypocrite, plain and simple. Check out this post from you...
Fine.
But for the record...
I don't appreciate any of his posts. He's the one trolling and flaming here, you know?
Sheesh, unless it's the XBox that's at the butt end of the joke, he doesn't think a joke is funny. What a baby.
But anyway, like I said... fine... you got it.
Herein lies the my big problem with you. And the reasons why you are a hypocrite and a liar. If you were so willing to follow the "rules" of the forum, you would have put me on your "ignore" list, like you told me you were going to. So you are a liar because you told me I was going on your "ignore" list, and didn't, and you are a hypocrite for agreeing w/the mods that that is the "best choice of action".
But OH NO, that's not what you did. THIS is how you chose to react to me...
ROFLMAO!
Wow... somebody said something that finally "agreed" with you, eh trebore?!? That bring a tear to your eye did it?
Well break out the pompoms, kitty... what're ya waiting for... somebody knocked the XBox!!! Woot woot!
C'mon lead us in a cheer, why don't you?
N-I-N-T-E-N-D-O P-O-W-E-R!
Yeeeaaaahhh! Alriiiiiiight! Woo hoo! Go team!
Gee, kind of looks like a flame doesn't it? Hmmm...yes it does. And not only is it a flame, it is a flame about a sarcastic comment I left to Tappy. It certainly isn't a mature response, now is it? I don't see the constructive reply or point in this drivel. Just another fine example of Glockstar's infinite respect for people with different tastes than you.
You see, you are the one who is lacking in "accountability" or "responsibility". If you "don't appreciate any of my posts", then it is your "responsibility" to handle it in a "mature" way. As in, if you wouldn't have lied about putting me on your "ignore" list you would have never read my post, and therefore would not have flamed me, which instigated me reporting you to the mods. Pure and simple.
Except responsibility for your own actions. Quit trying to pin this on me. You flamed my post and I reported you - deal with that. Don't try to say it's my problem when you have admited that you are the one who has a problem with me as your post to Lara proves.
Your trebor privileges are close to being revoked.

Thank you Gamer. We don't usually see eye to eye but it was nice actually reading some discussion relative to this thread; Mario Kart DD.
This is starting to really suck. I have to read through all this worthless, useless crzp to find something interesting.
Flame, troll, dufus, Metallica fans, babies, half-wits, and super villains - WHO CARES.
Call each other what you want and continue wasting everyone's time (mainly your own). With all thats out there and available to do for fun in this world - why would you choose this????? Maybe play some of those games you argue about. Oh, thats right. You argue for the sake of arguing and rarely discuss games.
But hey, at least I know who hates who, who loves their mommy, and who's opinion is meaningless.........
_______
Haven't played much of Mario Kart yet. IMO it does seem like more of the same. I'm a big N fan but this is getting annoying. Time for more games like Pikmin (new franchises and not the same old rehashes).

SCP is right. Reporting people was for something bigger, not trebor's close-to-nothing-that-I-really-don't-care whines"</div>
(Great words from a great hypocrite)
Giving guys that can dish it but cant take it a whistle blower button was the worst addition to this forum.Yes it should be used if things get real personal around here. But lets face it:I ignored three on one to four on one attacks for a long time before I decided to fight back.As a result of fighting back I got kicked out.(I was a little vulgar with my responses, but alot of other guys around here are too.But its not about them is it? Nope. But I learned from that experience.)
For crying out loud its a videogame forum. If ipeople would stick to videogame topics and nothing else personal out of control attacks would be cut down to a minimum.Hell if someone has to absolute flame or attack someone then go to General Discussion and get it off your chest.
Inside the System Wars forum if its not videogame related then a post shouldnt belong here then.Thats truly what should be the bottom line here.

This is worth repeating. ;)
Take a guess @ what percentage of SW posts are non game related.
[all forums seem to suffer users need to make them their personal chat rooms, SW is the biggest offender].
Also worth repeating are Chris' constraints identifying Sytstem Wars forum usage: "Debate which system is the best, but keep it clean.
No flames!"

I really dont understand how anyone can take what someone else has to say personal? I mean this is a chat room where gamers is supposed to express how they feel about the games they play and what consoles do they support.
Everybody has an opinion. Some are dead on while others arent nowhere in the ballpark. But why get so upset that you have to go a seriously flame someone for speaking their mind? Sometimes I think some of these guys around here really arent mature enough to interact with Adults.Yes I've been guilty of exchange harsh words with some of them over the years.(Guilty as charged) But at least I try to make an effort to keep it on the subject of videogames.Hopefully "System Wars" will get the hint.Someday.But we wont hold our breaths on that one.LOL!
