Violent video games scored ahead of pornography and underaged drinking as what parents are most concerned about for their kids. Marijuana use was first.
Ironically 17% of GTA IV sales are said to have went to kids too young to play the game. They just got someone to buy the game for them, which most often, was a parent.

Wow, how effing pathetic. Dare I call these video game attacks the new version of how Metal used to be the scape-goat for when things went bad with youth in the eighties and nineties(saw a special on VH1)? Just look at the GTA4 sales stat, and that'll tell you that this is all a big pile of dog doo.

I believe that if something can positively effect someone, than it's possible that something can effect someone negatively as well. So if I was a parent, I would be worried about violence in all entertainment. If a kid is just constantly involved in activities that portray some form of violence, it has to have an effect.
However, I'm not a parent. Parents of VGR speak up.

hilarious as usual, and I bet MMA will soon be yet another scapegoat. I find it funny that Marijuana use is #1, I mean what the? I don't smoke weed but I think cigarette smoking is far mor dangerous and a bigger peer problem.

Porn is horrible on so many levels. I'm suprised it's not #1.

Silence fool, porn rocks.
Anyway every new form of media has always been attacked by the older generation, everything from movies to music to books. Yes, when they first started heavily publishing fantasy and romance novels parents used to frown on their children "wasting time" reading these fictional books that give them grand ideas that are not realistic and dangerous for their futures.

Not realistic? More like "That's Satans Work you will go to HELL if you read that!"

LOL true. I guess you could say avid readers had it worse back in the day than avid gamers do today. THAT'S SATAN'S WORK YOU WILL DIE vs. video games make children violent but I'm going to buy GTA4 for my son.

LOL at the devil comments. I love how parents being concerned always somehow makes them crazy Christians .

Parents should be concerned with what their kids are into, but the poll is quite funny. I think this poll's results deserve more media attention to help folks put things back into perspective.
Regarding Porn, the scary thing is that kids don't find internet porn, internet porn finds them. With all the Chris Hanson specials on Dateline, one would think message boards would be ranked #1.
