Is it me, or are cd-keys completing annoying?

It's one thing when they print it on the Cd itself (not kidding! the new game I got called War and Peace, actually print the CD-Key...ON THE CD! Either crazy or ingenius!), but its another when they print it on the Cd-case, but that's fine, cuz you're not likely to toss the case.

It's an utter shame when they print the CD-key in the manual, and its sadder, when it's a crap-manual.

It becomes a tragedy, when you play a game for about two years, and toss the useless manual, forgetting that the Cd-key that is required, is on the stupid manual.

And, so when I installed one of my favorite games on my new system, Operation:Flashpoint, it asked me for a CD-KEY.

WAHHHHHHHT?!

I could not find the manual, and that's a shame, because I usually keep all my manuals that have some value, but for some reason, the manual for this game was among those that I tossed when tossing useless manuals.

So, now, I can't play Operation:Flashpoint, even though I own the ^%@$%^* game!
Lose the manual, lose your game.

Time to buy the game again.
YET, I was able to get the game up and running, but I am going to assume because it wasn't the correct way, that it will "degrade" overtime, as the developers so call say it will.
So far, I can't patch the game.
I downloaded a plethora, a huge library of stuff, and transferred it over to my new system, but, alas, I lost the CD-Key, because it was on the cheap manual.
I can still get some kind of OPF game going, but it's crap cuz I can't use all my stuff!!!!!!!!!!

The game, however, runs so fast on my new system, that it's utterly amazing.
I have ALL the detail at the HIGHEST possible level, and the game runs like Quake I on a PII.
YES, THAT FAST.
But no CD-Key----BAGH!!!!!

I will probably have to buy the game again.

After I buy the game, I plan on mailing the developers of the game (Bohemia Interactive Studio), my useless CD-useless only cuz I lost the manual; with an explanation on why they are getting my perfectly healthy Operation:Flashpoint CD in the mail, and without the manual too.

Search word: CD-KEY, and you'll find a plethora of lamer warez, cracker, junk sites, yet, after this stupied ituation with this game, I can't help but want to say to those lamer sites,"Keep up the good work."-even though they are all probably bogus, spam sites.

But I can't help but still give a kudos out to all the cd-crack sites, like Gamecopyworld and such, beause without them, I wouldn't be able to play some games I own, cuz of their stupid, broken copy write features.

LOL! I'm sorry to laugh, but i totally feel your pain with OP flashpoint.
After moving, i couldn't find the manual for like 2 months, and almost bought another copy. But then i saw Resistence Expansion for $5.00 at Target and i've been playing that instead.

I went to the store, and after 15 minutes of searching, I found Operation:Flashpoint: Game of the Year Edition (main game, with Resistance, and that Red Thunder-or whatever, expansion all rolled into one.).

The reason why it took so long to find it, was cuz it was BURIED behind a bunch of lame Rainbow Six 3 games, or whatever.

SO, NOW, I GOTS THE GAME!

I don't like the GOTY edition, for some reason, the graphics are all screwed up, all blurry or something, whereas the normal game, is just fine.

I like the bumpy-terrain enhancement ability, making the game more like a Delta Force game, but there are too many graphical problems with this to be worthy of playing it over the main game, which is sharp and crisp.

I went ahead and got Grand Theft Auto III (forgot to get Mafia though! DOH!), and Battlefield 1942 too.

If they must use a cd key, they should have the cd key stored on your pc when you install the game, preferably in a directory that won't get deleted if you uninstall the game. And it should ask you if you want to print the key. I don't even like it when they put the key on jewel cases. A lot of people (like me), store their games in cases for easy access, and put the jewel cases in the closet...where they can fall into the black hole.

Sure you entered it right? Many times I've entered 0 instead of O, G instead of 6, B instead of 8, etc. I keep a crate full of game manuals and empty jewel cases with the keys on them, ready for that time when I might want to reinstall something.

I just went through the CD key failed entry on Sacrifice. I bought the full retail version, complete w/big manual & CD key on jewel case. I attempted entry six times, using caps/no caps etc, but no luck.
I ended up grabbing a code of the web that worked.
What was curious in my case w/Sacrifice is included in package was a last minute flyer indicating: "CD Key Code is for Multiplayer Access!". There was no other code provided with game.
I can imagine how frustrating this would be for someone who is just starting out in the PC game world. ;)
