It looks nice. If there is a FF game for it, I'll definitely get it.

for once, Sony appears to have something KILLER in my opinion. I hope Sony eats up every single bit of Nintendo's horrible technology GBA market share...wow, Sony and Nintendo are reversing roles here...Console wise, Sony is dead last as far as potential, yet portable wise Sony has a LOT of potential and Nintendo put out a POS, I hope they go bankrupt, N deserves NOTHING but a swift kick in the balls as a wake up call for releasing such horrible cheap hardware.

Wow, that's cool looking. But I gotta say I don't feel the love with that d-pad.

And you're right, Tappy. It's not as cool as the Xbox.

Why so much hate? :)

Nintendo is fine iwth me. i don't consider gamecube is anything remotely close to ****. Gamecube might have the lowest retail price tag right now, but I doubt it cost Nintendo any less for developing it comparing to Sony or M$. Nintendo just doesn't know how to keep a good relationship with 3rd party developers.

Personally, I thought GBA SP was nice. It is colorful and energy efficient. The only reason why I didn't get one is I don't like portables in general. As far as potential goes, I don't know how Sony has the least potential. And what do you mean by potential?

I think PSP will do well as long as it doesn't get a high price tag like Nokia's N-Gage. Hopefully, Sony isn't that foolish.

One rumor is the actual game, the FF7 sequel is a launch title for the PSP.

Sony would have to work VERY hard to produce a screw up worse than the N'Gage.

The PSP sure looks sharp, but the pad and buttons being flush with the front might make them tough to use. Hopefully, this will be changed in the final version.

In any case, the questions about price, durability and battery life still need to be answered before I can get excited about the PSP.

Oh, and as for Tappy's comments on GBA being "worthless"...you must REEEALLY despise 2D for you to look past all that gaming goodness the GBA had to offer. Either that, or it's simply blind Nintendo hatred.

I'm not loving that D-pad but as far as design goes, it looks pretty good.

And now we know why you picked an avatar with a hole in his head. Your bilous drivel here is too pointless to even give a real response to. Actually, in this post, it was though the ghost of "The Game" has possessed you. Creepy.

Haha, that is pretty funny. Perhaps, The Game has already returned to us under a different name.

Hey, have any of you heard of a "mock-up" before? As in the "picture" of the PSP is not the final design, but an initial mock-up of what it could end up looking like.

I highly doubt that this is what the PSP will end up looking like - the lack of the already confirmed analog stick should be your first clue.

I never said I had a problem with GC Folkei learn to read. GBA is poop, no matter how you look at it.

Um...I thought that FFVII-2 was just going to be a one-hour long CG movie like Spirits Within.

when you're on the go, looking for a quick bit of gaming, the PSP has just the solution. . . long-ass load times.

And who wants to bet they'll pull a page from teh Nitnendo play-book and release a bunch of Ps1 ports for $34, old Final Fantasy, Tenchu, Bushido Blade, and Colony Wars all shrunk down and little. Are we even far enough away from those games to have any nostalgic high price replay value?

I mean, it was cool to replay Mario World and Zelda: Link to the Past, which I hadn't played in years, but I'm not going to re-buy a bunch of Ps1 games for a handheld. Most of those games just weren't all that great, in retrospect.

Old Snobbity can dis the GBA SP hardware all he wants, but the system works great, and Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion are some of the best games of this generation---and can't wait for Sword of Mana. I can't believe this buffon can dis the quality of nintendo hardware in a thread about Sony, the king of junky fall-apart gaming hardware.

It is. Advent Children takes places 2 years after FF7, but many are saying it's a set up for the game that's to come later.

What the heck is this thing????? It looks like a frikken keychain. This is not the image I saw in the gamenow magazine I was reading(when I posted the specs a while back). From what I understood it looked quite similar to the GB SP thats what I'll be expecting to see.

I dont know about u guys....maybe my eyes need checking but arent the power button (and i think) the reset button too close to the d-pad? I would hate to be playing a long game until my thumb accidendly presses the reset button.....lol

PSP will be much bigger than a key chain. It is going to use minidisc as its medium. With that in mind, you get a good picture how big PSP has to be at least.

Like Tashi said, the latest FF7 movie will set up a story for the possible FF7 sequel. At this point, I hope FF7-2, if there was one, to be made for PS3.

Hasn't anyone tried GT4 yet?

So, what kind of power source is the PSP going to use? Wouldn't the fact that it is a disk drive dealy(I don't know the real term, D'oh!) make for some heavy battery usage? I don't really see this thing running on four AA's for very many hours.
Also, is it going to be mini discs or mini DVD like the GCN?

I think it is more like a mini DVD like GCN. The disc can hold up to 1.8 GiG.

Here is the link to see how big PSP really is comparing to other things..

Unlike the N-Gage the PSP is actually a nice, attractive piece of hardware. But it has to overcome 3 obstacles to even attempt to take on the GBA...price, battery life, and games. If Sony can manage to make the machine last 10-15 hours on 4 AA batteries and costs about $150-200 then they have a good chance of succeeding.

If the thing releases with FFVII-2, though, then I doubt price or anything else would keep it from selling at least 200,000 units.

So that should make for games that are of a higher quality than the jaggie-king, the PS1, right? Hopefully developers will take advantage of those 1.8 gigs. Unless the PSP will be running the same kind of engine that the PS1 runs on.

On a screen that small even PS1 era games will look amazing.

I suspect the PSP will run on some kind of rechargeable lithuim battery or something, like the GB SP(I think). As for the discs, I heard they are actually going to be slightly smaller than the GC discs.

True, true. So, is Sony gonna pull a Nintendo and make the PS3 compatible with the PSP? What I mean is like the GBA and GCN have that connectivity thing going that no one uses.

I want to know how much is the PSP going to be.I think it'll be about $200 bucks or more.Do anyone really thinks paying that much for a handheld is worth it? Not I.

Whats really funny is Sony actually thinks The PSP has a chance against Gameboy.LOL!

Sorry but too many victims has been left in Gameboy's dust over the years.I see The PSP going down in flames just like Lynx, just like Game Gear, and just like any other handheld that comes after the PSP.I could be wrong, but we'll see.
