Just saw a commercial for somthing called an Eye Toy for the PS2, looked similar to a web-cam.
Anyone got the low-down on this thing?

Big hit in Europe...
It's basically a device that allows you to see yourself on the TV. Then you can interact with whatever game you're playing. I've heard that you can beat every game by wiggling your arms around constantly. I don't know. I haven't checked it out myself.

Hrmmnnnn....
Combine this Eye Toy technology and add it with light-gun technology... perhaps the next step in FPS lies in that direction.
Perhaps it could also have an impact on online play too with it's webcam like technology.
The future possiblities seem bright, lets hope it works out and doesn't become just another dead end accessory.

i have played it, i rather enjoeyed it, i was over in my friends house. it is great in mulipplayer and with friends but on ur own it aint so specaticualear.
the games in it are rather like bishi bashi special for the ps1, bthey are short and there are a ffew. i would say its not too bad for £40. it is more of a party game than anything else. to use it juu just stand infront of the cmaera and wave ur arms and ur body. it seems rediculus but u appear kool on screen. well, i did:P

The games the Eye Toy is used for now seems a littile silly for older gamers and aimed more for a younger audience.
I can imagne some of my nieces and nephews having a blast with it, but for me? I don't know.
Perhaps games aimed at players over the age of 16 is in the pipelines...
If all they have planned for the Eye Toy are games where you wave your arms about in a frenzied manner this will only be a <i>flash-in-the-pan</i> accessory and will not sell long past gamers intital curosity purchase stage.
But then again... companies might be able to make money from products marketed in such a manner. Even if it only generated a few months of modest to decent sales figures, it might be considred a success.
Will have to wait I guess to see if there will be a life span for the Eye Toy or if it's just a holiday gimmik....

Found an interesting article about the EyeToy here (http://www.1up.com/article2/0,4364,1396891,00.asp).
Maybe the future holds possibilties for it.
