hi, i want to upgrade my pc, right now it is worthless but one of my friends upgraded his and he has some peices for me and i was wondering if it would be worth it. I want to upgrade to be able to play games like: company of heroes and world in conflict and games of that genre.

Here is what he is selling me...Intel P4 3.20 Ghz HTT
ATI X-1600 Pro
2 gigs ram
motherboard...lanparty pro 875
250 gig hard drive

what do you guys think? is it worth my investment, he would be installing and everything with a 1 year garente for 500 bux. Do you think i can play the games i listed above?

thx in advance

You can get all that new for $450.00!

Single core chip - mid line GPU at best - 2 GB of ? RAM - I'm not even sure about the mobo at all!

I'm gonna say NO, just based on the info - not to mention, those games are pretty demanding!

You can get all those components separately for under $300, so I don't think it's a good deal. You can get a better machine for $500 than that. Plus, you need more horsepower for the games you want to play.

Thats a ripoff to put it mildley.that system would struggle alot with world in conflict u would have to turn everything off and run it at 800x600 res and it still might not be playable.you would want atleast a 7800 GT to play that with any kind of eye candy

this would be a solid barebones http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-QUAD-CORE-Q6600-2GB-DDR2-250GB-20x-DVDRW-QAUD-PC_W0QQitemZ220249709389QQihZ012QQcategoryZ179QQss PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

then add this for a graphics card http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PNY-GeForce-8800GT-XLR8-Graphics-Card_W0QQitemZ150261174268QQihZ005QQcategoryZ3761Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Alittle over 600$ you would have a pc that would last you for a few years before needing an upgrade

Dude, your friend is ripping you off! I could build a better rig for $500 brand new. I would go with Bane's suggestion. Some of the components aren't topnotch (mobo looks like crap and the memory is el-cheapo DDR2) but you get a Core 2 Quad for the deal and a 250GB HD plus all you need to get up and running.

Plunk in the 8800GT and you have a very powerful rig that can do any game today without much problem.
