For you soccer fans out there, I just wanted to get some sorta perspective on what you think about the FIFA games pitted against the Winning Eleven (ISS) games. The only game I've been playing on the PS2 for the past I-don't-know-how-long has been Winning Eleven 6 and I'm ecstatic to hear that Konami is finally bringing ISS by KCET (as opposed to KCEO) to the PC. I'm not exactly sure when, but if you know, post the date already!

ISS? KCET? Sorry, I've never heard of those before. Sounds like a whole new language to me. Could you tell me what they mean?

Winning Eleven is basically (in my books) the best soccer series to be made on any console (including PC). It goes by that name in Japan and it still is after all these years (Winning Eleven 7 was recently released). It only recently got introduced to Europe and so they (KCET, the sub-division of Konami that develops the Japanese based WE games) decided that a change of name would help. And so the name International Superstar Soccer (ISS) came into being which later changed to Pro Evolution Soccer (part 3 is being released soon). Ok, to be fair, ISS has been around since the grand SNES times, and it's only gotten sweeter and more addictive. And, finally, only last year did Konami unveil their soccer king to North American markets.
For more info (and please if you like soccer games and have not heard about the venerable Winning Eleven/ISS/Pro Evo Soccer series, I implore you to give them a shot) the following link could help out:

Cheers.

I hate sports games but I played Fifa 98, 2002, and 2003 becuase I love football, in fact they're the only sports games I've ever played. I wanted to try ISS 3 since I read a review of it in a PC game mag about 2 months ago, but whenever I look for a PC review online I only find the PS2 version? so I'm assuming it's still not available for PC so god knows what they were reviewing then? personally I think it'll be hard to pushed to compete with FIFA 2003 which actually flows like a game of footie but I 've never played a console game(no kidding) so I dont know what the PS2 version of ISS 3 is like.

Yeah, footie games are the only sport games I play too, so respect to you there ;) . ISS 3 is not yet on the PC (in fact its release is just a rumor), so that article you read in pretty interesting indeed. I also see that your favorite type of game is "anything that dares to be realistic". he he he... trust me, once you play ISS (oh and you might have to be a little patient with it -- it takes a while to settle in) you'll never go back to FIFA. I've successfully converted countless FIFA-fanatic friends to the ISS niche (myslef included!). Hope you get to play it soon.

I just had a quick rummage and I found the mag PC Zone it's a UK publication and it's this month, sorry, but I got it right at the start of the month, anyway is has a full review (not preview) of ISS 3 "out now" as the release date? and they rated it at 73% so if I see it anywhere I'll pick it up.

Oh yes yes, I'm sorry, you're right, there is an ISS for the PC. However, be wary... notice in my previous posts I was mentioning KCET making the ISS games? Well, it so happens that the development of the English translations of the Winning Eleven games is taken care of by 2 subdivisons; KCET which makes the Pro Evolution Soccer series, and KCEO which now makes the ISS series). It's the Pro Evolution Soccer games by KCET that you want to play. The current ISS games by KCEO give a very bad impression of the PES games. Sadly, the PES games haven't come out on the PC... yet at least.
There, I hope that cleared up things...
