came across a beta for this free MMORPG based on American Football. its quite a simple sports-sim with attributes akin to dwarves and elves.. strength, agility, speed etc. but throw in some football specific skills like confidence and vision and the special abilities skill tree thats position specific and you've got an intruiging sports MMORPG concept.
its beta still and the devs are coninuing to improve it. it may not be to all your tastes but its a fair but simple attempt. the graphics are very similar to Football Manager's 2d birds eye view with blobs galore but if you gridiron fans are interested here's a linky:

because i'm not huge a fan of the game i've built an offensive Centre on the basic premise of an old fashioned British Centre Back huzzah!! i reckon i need a cure for these recent bouts of insomnia :(

sweet. A basketball one would be better. Just because the game itself lends itself more to the MMO feel. But this could be cool. unless you a million QB's then I don't know what.
Interesting idea. I made two players but guess I have to wait a day to get contract offers.

Soccer is my game of choice and i'd have run at the chance of creating a bunch of players. never hurt to try something different though. if anything i'm gradually learning how American Football works. and blimey how many players are needed to be in the first team? 24? thats the numers of players in an entire soccer squad!!
if any of us musters up enough flex points or cash, how about setting up a team? we'd buy one of the CPU runned teams and then we'd be good to go!
gotta mention this: i've built my Centre to be a Rushing specialist

he's lvl4 but has decent enough stats. with a strong depth roster i'm hoping my player, with the spelling mistake (how annoying lol), will have many plays that need 10 or less yards

Active roster is 53, with 45 suited up on gameday. Starters: 11 offense, 11 defense. Plus you have your special teams that do the kickoffs, punts, and extra points. But special teams is made up of backup players and the occasional starter from the offense and defense, plus your kickers.

 that's a huge roster!
did you sign up with any team? i'm stuck with a team on a serious losing streak. we were 4-0-0 after 4 games. that became 4-10-0 by end of season (so much the play-offs hehe). the off season scrimmage games ain't been to dandy neither with 4 whoopings:
05/29/2008 Hartford Bucks L 9-38
05/31/2008 at New Hampshire Rollers L 0-21
06/02/2008 Louisville Billy Goats L 13-31
06/04/2008 at Memphis Towers L 7-35
that's what you call a leaky defence :(

anyone playing this beta still? i'm now a lvl 10 Center playing over and above my ability in a midtable Oceania AAA #1 (Zeta Conference). i'm mainly a backup and play in the spcial team. if the season pans out well i'll stay but i might shift to another team for more playtime
I totally forgot about this game, I've been busy with other things. I should look and see what my two players have been up to, lol.
