Official Trailer (http://www.ea.com/redalert/movie.jsp?id=1)
struggling with insomnia tonight and came across Red Alert 3. game looks cartoonish but most RTS post Warcraft III look that way. it looks like every other modern sci-fi RTS too with ta healthy dose of garish red and more than a smutter of blue.
i'm unlikel to keep the faith with the RA series now that EA has got its hands on this..

Looks pretty good to me actually. I'm a massive Red Alert nut, and this trailer makes me feel really good inside. I liked the way EA handled C&C3, so I'm keeping my hopes up for this one.

well the graphics are kind of neat but just by the short footage it seems the same as every other command and conquer.

Not played C&C3 yet, but it is on my list of games I want to get. Red Alert 3 will definitely be on the list as well.
One thing I always find funny in these games is the underpowered nature of the nuclear weapons. In all C&C games they are more like cruise missiles than nukes. I guess I am spoiled there from Supreme Commander.

RTS was never my strong suit, it's mostly "been there done that" and Command & Conquer was always one of the most basic RTS that just never evolved. Red Alert 3 I am sure is more of the same.
The only RTS which is relevant to me right now is Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander, maybe World in Conflict but I haven't actually played that one much. Star Craft 2 will have to prove itself.

Star Craft 2 will have to prove itself.
with certainty!!
looking back at moments in the history of RTS:
Age of Empires outsold 7Kingoms it wasn't funny (1997)
Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 outsold Shogun: Total War (2000)
Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings outsold Stronghold it wasn't funny (2001)
Warcraft III outsold Battle Realms and Medieval: Total War it wasn't funny (2002)
Command & Conquer Generals outsold Rise of Nations it wasn't funny (2003)
Age of Empires III outsold Company of Heroes it wasn't funny (2006)
to prosper generic RTS>>>>>innovative RTS (and i don't care what you guys say Warcraft III may be the single most polished game ever created and the units seem balanced blah blah.. but what has it offered that wasn't offered before?)

Thats the problem warcraft 3 offered nothing new.Even the best RTS ever made IMO warlord battlecry series of games really didnt offer anything new other then deep hero development which warcraft 3 tried to copy but failed miserably. The only thing that keeps me going back to wlbc 2,3 are all the races in the game and the hero development is deep enough where u could literally make thousands of different type hero's other then that its a been there done that like every other RTS out there.
