Nintendo claimed development was easier on the GC, which would free up developers to be more creative on the system. Who knows if that is just PR BS, but Capcom is sure showing its creativity on the system, with the amazing Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil, and TAKE A LOOK AT THE KILLER 7 VIDEO FOOTAGE. This twisted, violent film-noir looking game. . . if the game-play is even close to the artistry and concept, we'll have another winner on our hands next year.

I've got a High-Res quicktime trailer for Killer 7. Certainly looks cool, but doesn't do much to let us know what kind of game it is going to be.
In any respect, Killer 7 is definitely one of the GC titles to watch in 2004.

From the looks of it I think it might sortakinda be like Max Payne..but possibly with more character interaction.

Yea, more character interaction is nice but I'd be hard pressed to believe K7 would even come CLOSE to MP as far as TIGHTNESS of gameplay goes.

There was an interview a while back that talked about what gameplay would be like in this game:
'The game was expected for Christmas, but during the interview Horiyuki-san hints that the release has dropped from the colder winter (end of 2003) to the warmer winter (start of 2004).'
'Killer 7’s dialogue is in English'
'The game is about a hitman. Well, seven hitmen confronting a common enemy called Heaven Smile, who is capable of changing shape by touching people. He’s in the US, and the seven hitmen are dispatched to kill him. This manifests itself as the hero having seven lives, as he can switch between the assassins at any point. To switch, he must find a TV, where each of his forms corresponds to a channel.'
'While Killer 7 is an adventure game, movement is not freeform, but confined to a single button that instructs the player to follow a path which regularly branches in different directions. ‘I’m very proud of the travel system inside the game,’ says Suda-san. ‘It’s like a racing game. You push the acceleration button so that your character speeds up. When you arrive at a spot with a choice of directions, arrows appear and you just need to choose the direction where you want to go. The game camera and travel systems are two of the most important features of the game.’'
'The goal is to locate an enemy which is also capable of changing form, using sound – specifically the enemy’s laugh – as a guide. ‘Yes, you get frustrated hearing this enemy laughing at you!’ exclaims Horiyuki-san with glee. When the player believes the enemy is close, they can trigger a battle sequence. ‘You can fire at will,’ points out Suda, ‘there’s no ammo limitation. Well, you need to reload, but that’s just to make the game better.’'
'It’s a violent game … ‘We were asked about the purpose of the game,’ says Horiyuki-san. ‘But we only had one critic, someone from Europe who asked us not to kill a Christian priest onscreen. Nintendo was not opposed, as I think it knew what our intentions were from our work on Biohazard GC.’"

It certainly sounds unique enough but the gameplay is what'll decide the issue.

Typical Japanese "no freedom, but make it look good" gameplay. Pathetic. How many more "interactive movies" will be touted as AAA games from Crapcom fanboys?

another interactive movie??? my god i hate those. especially MGS2 and FFX.... blah i dont see why people like those. i'd rather spend $10 on a new dvd than $45 on a new interactive movie :(

And here's Tappy again, comparing two games - one of which he certainly hasn't played yet.
Got a question for ya' Tappy...how did you teach your butt to type? I'm just guessing that's what you did, since you are talking out of your ass again.

It sounds like not only are there some difficulties in translating, but that this game is hard to describe. While massive innovation can turn out to be massive failure if it's boring, I wouldn't dismiss this one for no reason. It does not sound like a boring ass interactive movie. . . I'm not big on Cut-scenes. . . even the beautiful ones in Crimson Skies I'm more or less sleeping through waiting to get back to flying the plane.
I want NEW TYPES OF GAMES. Hearing you go on about a max payne SEQUEL made yawn. Killer 7 game sounds very different. . .and hopefully it actually is. The fact that it looks cool and has a wild story is just icing. And don't be a hypocrite. If this game were being developed exclusively for Xbox. . . be honest with yourself, what do you think you'd be posting here?
Have you played Viewtiful Joe yet? Apparently Crapcom isn't crap when it comes to gamecube.

LOL! Where in the world did you get that Avatar? It cracks me up! :p
Anyway, I will most assuredly be buying Killer 7 when it comes out. With the exceptiton of Dino Crisis 3, "Crapcom" has pleased me with their releases. P.N.03 while shallow and ultimately flawed was still a fun game to play through. Viewtiful Joe is awesome. So Killer 7 should at least keep me interested enough to play through it once or better.
Any word on Dead Phoenix? Or how about Red Dead Revolver? First they were supposedly canned, then Capcom says they are still in the works. I hope so-these games look like some of the better Capcom titles.
And geez....I hope Resident Evil 4 turns out better than Dino Crisis 3!

Killer 7 ranks up there with Metroid Prime 2 as one of my most anticipated GC games. The visual style kicks, and while the caliber of the gameplay is still unknown, at least Capcom has the balls to try something new.
Anyways, it takes a LOT of bias to dismiss this game based on the little information we have. :o

If it wasn't for Viewtiful Joe, I wouldn't be interested in K7- Capcom has lost their touch as of late...Product Number 03, Dino Crisis 3, Auto Modellista, and Devil May Cry 2 all disappointed, and RE/RE0 were decent at best.

Well, I made it with my handy-dandy photoshopping sillz, of course! :)
I was getting sick of the alternating b+w gradients. What will be interesting is how people intrepret the new avatar around here.
Thanks for noticing, however.

Yeah, well, Capcom isn't really high on my list of great developers these days - one good title like Viewtiful Joe doesn't make up for years of bland cookie-cutter, seizure-inducing titles with horrible control schemes.
But...Killer 7 indeed looks worthy of attention.

Since nobody answered your question I'll answer it for you. I believe we would get responses such as:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xboxter:
Dood this game is goin to bee awesome! You kitty Cubers wouldn't understand how great this game is because you only play baby games.
mass:
Too bad Nintendo couldn’t get any 3rd party support if their lives depended on it. I'll be playing Killer 7 on my Xbox while you Cubers go ahead and wait another 4 months for the next 1st party Nintendo game to be released.
Tappy_Tibbons:
I'm very happy to see developers taking risks and exploring new areas of gaming. This game will be innovative and original! Now if only Nintendo could release a game for their console that isn't just a rehash. Why can't the Gamecube have any games without cute little mascots in them?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does that sound about right? Seriously just let it go Xbots, this game looks friggen cool. You can't honestly look at screenshots of this game and say it doesn't look sweet. And don't comment on the play control considering that we only know a few comments from the designers that slade posted. The only thing we know for sure is that it will be innovative. Please don't tell me that's a bad thing.
And why is everyone hating on Capcom? The 3 Capcom games I have are RE, RE0 and Viewtiful Joe. These are all amazing games IMO. Are all the other Capcom games really that bad? Unless this game gets flamed out of existence by reviewers you can bet that I'm going to buy it.

Thanks for the EXCELLENT laugh. You totally nailed those three. You had to respond for them because obviously the hypocrisy is blatant. If Killer 7 was an Xbox exclusive, they WOULD be singing a different tune. At least gamecubers here seem to be objective enough to acknowledge when something kicks ass on xbox, like Crimson Skies. I just don't understand the Nintendo haters.

Yeah it has...Max Payne 2 smears the original when it comes to cool ass gunplay. Besides that better story, better voice acting and better graphics definately help put it above MP1 in every catagory possible.
But still, Killer 7 does look damn interesting...I'm gonna keep an eye out for it.

Geez Tappy, we don't even know any solid facts about the gameplay, so why don't you save your keen observations for things that deserve them.
How about your theories behind why all single-player games suck and aren't worth your time. Or how 2D gaming should be banned. Perhaps your thesis on why the bestselling videogame system of all time, the GBA, is a big pile of poop.

All that stuff Gadfly2317 mentioned about GC being easier to develop may not seem so farfetched. Infact i have read an interview a long time ago when GC first launched its first Tony Hawk game. Activision commented that developing for the gamecube was far much easier than they expected. Infact, according the interview, Activision commented how they finished the game months ahead of the expected date. This may not be so surprising, the console, Nintendo64 had tarnished Nintendo's reputation of making it very hard for developers to develop games. So naturally when Activision started the project, they expected similar condisions as n64 but got nothing but the opposite. Its obvious that nintendo has learned from their mistake and tried to make a console easier to develop.
