Ive been keeping a close eye on this MMORPG since it was released.I heard at the beggining there were so many bugs it wasnt funny so i held off and waited till the game was pretty much fixed.I wasnt even thinking about playing another MMORPG till i seen previews of this game well over a year ago.Well reading through the vanguard forums it seems this game has come a long way since it came out so im thinking in a few weeks time of picking this up and giving it a shot.Anyone playing this at all?if so thoughts?
I've had a look at it. It has better better graphics than WoW, obviously. I like that you have actual dialogues with npc's and can develop diplomacy skills and gain influence (nonexistent in WoW). The character development looks pretty deep too (unlike WoW). The negatives are the tough death penalty (unelss they've lightened that up), and the emphasis on grouping, which limits what you can do unless you can find people in your guild or others to join you. The one nice thing about WoW is if you can't get a group together, or people leave your party, you can just go back to soloing. But there is just no way I'm diving into another mmorpg right now, I'm having too much fun playing single player games like Rome Total War, NWN2, Oblivion, and even old Civ 3!

I'm still avoiding MMORPGs, too busy playing single player.
On my plate I have Vegas 2, still going on Medieval 2, and I do have Assassin's Creed on the back burner.
I am also touching my PS2 again which I haven't for a long time, thanks to Persona 3 FES.
Still have a lot of great stuff on the PSP, including Key of Heaven.

I played Vanguard at release, but quit because it was absolutely horrible. I've heard it's a lot better now, but I'll probably try Age of Conan before I go back to Vanguard

Vanguard was terrible, i'm playing Age of Conan, i've been a tester for it for a lil while, its a good game even though some of the clients was buggy but its getting better and better.
I even got a new rig to play it.

No offense friendbear but i wouldnt listen to you anyways.I mean you bashed WOW after telling everyone you played it for like 2 years and making 5 level 70 characters.Took you 2000-3000 hours of playing something to realize it sucked?

Vanguard wasn't terrible. I'll admit it was buggy as hell, no doubt. But the game lying behind the bugs was about the most fun I've had since the original Everquest.
I wish people would make another MMO that harkens back to the good ole days of EQ, when grouping was required, good armor and weapons were hard to come by, and when you earned something...by god, you really felt like you earned it. Vanguard came pretty close to that. If it weren't for the bugs (which I hear have largely been fixed by now), it would've been awesome.

Pretty much, don't feel sorry for me ~ feel sorry for all the poor suckers still playing it :P WoW is one of those addicting time sinks, drags you in, and don't want to let you go. The PvE side isn't bad, raiding and PvP are pretty bad though, raiding is so tightly co-ordinated that if someone makes the smallest of errors then the whole raid dies and then, drama abounds.
As for Age of Conan, I think once its polished it will be an amazing game.

I was thinking of going back to evercrack 2.That was the most fun ive had in a mmorpg and the majority of people who play it are adults so you dont get to many lil immature kids like me playing it

Well, Age of Conan is mature only ~ meaning theres plenty of bad langauge, sexual content and death moves which even make Mortal Kombat look tame. I mean, one of the early quests is to get the vaginal blood of a whore to sacrifice LOL! I would really recommend keeping an eye on it or check out some of the youtube movies.
I enjoyed EQ2 but SoE made too many mistakes with it  I joined at launch, played it for a good few months until half the population quit because of some bad issues, then SoE downtiered the game, we re-joined and enjoyed it again for another good few months then they screwed it up again, god only knows what its like these days but i've been burned by it twice ~ leaving it well alone now.

Did the Age of Conan beta end? I downloaded the client off FilePlanet several days ago, but as of yesterday I couldn't log on anymore.

I'm gonna be playing Age of Conan when it comes out. We can fire up a big ole VGR party like back in the old days and kick the **** out of everything we come across. It'll be grand.

I'm thinking of picking the game up too when it releases, although being that I'm going to be back home there might be some delay in that happening. If I do get it I'll be sure to let you guys know and we can have some fun VGR play sessions.

Vanguard has had a lot of bugs removed. Performance is a lot better then it was near release.
Age of Conan is really really good graphically and the environment. Quests are ok not great and the combat system is different and some like it and some don't. It involves doing chains of attacks to do any of your combat abilities.
EQ2 is still the best game for quests in my opinion.
