Which console has the best games? You have to consider the date certain consoles were released onto the market to make a rational decision. I think that the PS2 has the best games so far but some if the developers like Tecmo are only making games for the X-Box. Do you think they are traders or expanding their horizon by going towards another console. I think it is part expansion part being traders. Let me hear what you think about it.....

I think a gamers' tastes is what makes them decide which is the best console. Personally, I get equal amounts of enjoyment from both my systems.

All three consoles have great games, it just depends on what you want in a game.

I think when you say "trader" you mean "traitor." First, Tecmo isn't only making games for Xbox. The Monster Rancher series and Rygar are PS2-exclusive while Fatal Frame is on both PS2 and Xbox. Tecmo's development studio "Team Ninja" headed by Tomonobu Itagaki is pretty much Xbox exclusive. Team Ninja is responsible for the Dead Or Alive titles and the upcoming Ninja Gaiden. Itagaki loves to develop for the most powerful hardware and that just happens to be Xbox.

Developers and publishers willing to take the time and make a good Xbox game have reaped the rewards for doing so. Ubi-Soft has given Xbox extra attention with games like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon & Island Thunder, Rainbow Six and Prince of Persia Sands of Time having extra features and being superior on the Xbox to the PS2 and Gamecube versions. The Xbox versions are almost always released first as well or simultaneously with the PS2 version. This has paid off for Ubi-Soft with strong sales.

Tecmo's Team Ninja and their DOA games have experienced high sales numbers.

Many multiplatform titles are so superior on the Xbox over their PS2 & Gamecube counterparts that to me-playing the PS2 or Gamecube versions is like watching a cover band instead of the real thing. It's a pale immitation. Some games that I feel this way about include Wolfenstein, Indiana Jones, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Max Payne.

Xbox is also the only system to offer downloadable content. The newest downloads being an entirely new planet & aliens for Knights of the Old Republic-set to be released within a month for free. That's just awesome.

Wow Geezer, you're leaning towards the old 'Box eh? I think Xbox is the way to go as well. Maybe 2 years ago, PS2 would have been the defining choice but not now. There are certain Xbox titles that are several classes above ANYTHING on PS2. I suggest the original poster decide for themself but as far as top quality per genre, it really breaks own like this:

PS2:

fighting games - Virtua Fighter 4, and Tekken seires(of course I tired of these boring games long ago but it's up to you)

Japanese RPGs - the Final Fantasy series, about a billion other cookie cutter clones.

Platforming - Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, etc. "Mario" type games.

Gamecube:

Old Nintendo Franchises - Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros

Xbox:

First person Shooters- Halo, Unreal Championship(online), UNreal 2(online), Return to Castle Wolfenstien(online), Ghost Recon(online), Rainbox Six 3(online), Doom3(online), Half Life 2, and Counter Strike(online) is right around the corner.

Racing Games - Moto Gp 1&2(online), Project Gotham 2 (online), and a BUNCH of others.

American RPGs - Morrowind GOTY ed., Star Wars:Knights of the Old REpublic, Fable(coming soon), and Deus Ex 2.

other KEY Xbox titles that annihalate the competition:

1. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge - an online arcadey dogfighting flying game, addictve as crack

2. Ninja Gaiden - the series has been dead for over 10 years and it's finally making its triumphant return to Xbox before Christmas this year.

3. Top Spin - the best tennis game ever concieved(online)

4. Kung Fu Chaos - a BLAST of a party game

5. TONS more!

and by the way, if you're planning on gaming online and you have broadband, Xbox is the king of console online gaming and offers the best service and game variety...BY FAR.
