Has anyone gotten this yet? I know some of you were fans of Suda51's Killer 7. Trebor? Cuddly?
No More Heroes is a must buy--I think any VGR member who owns a Wii would dig it. I think most of the non-Wii owning gamers here would dig this too. This game is very much made for gamers; it has tons of nods--in both style and content--to lots of classic gaming.
It's also a game that should appeal to fans of both japanese style gaming, and to western gaming. I thought maybe it would alienate and appeal to neither, and maybe that's how some gamers might experience it, but I'm optimistic that most long time gamers will feel how I do about it.
No More Heroes, in its style, and swordplay (with basically a light saber), reminds me of Kill Bill/Grand Theft Auto/Anime, and while it has things that are reminiscent of Killer 7, the gameplay is better.
Great humor, lots of foul language right off the bat---original, quirky yet mainstream, and you charge up your beam katana with a movement that makes Travis look like he is whacking off. . . . .
If you have the Wii, get the game. If you don't have a Wii, this game is one more game to add to the scales, and whatever your tipping point is, if you were even close, this game adds a lot of weight to the list of reasons gamers have for getting the Wii.
