I read this on Gamespot, and I have been reading for months about yet another Xbox 360 sku, but the prediction of MS liscensing its 360 platform to other manufacturers is very intriguing. If true, it would even overshadow the Warner BD news. Is this good for MS? Is it good for the industry? Is it good for consumers...I mean gamers? BTW, I doubt it will happen, but ya never know with MS.

Gates confirms that there will be no noteworthy 360 news.

...aside from Disney and MGM bringing new content to XBL.

Nothing new game related from either MS or Sony at CES.

I think it's good for everyone involved if true.

It's good for MS, because they get to cut their loss and get some money back.
It's good for other manufacturers who get the chance to make some money.
It's good for consumers who get the opportunity to play 360 content without relying on RRoD 360 hardware.

Now the question is will doing so have some kind of negative impact overall on the 360's current position? Will it cause ripples of repercussion when you consider that this is basically a "wash our hands clean of the mess" move by MS after spending its wad last year and having little else this year, thus pass the buck on?

As for it just being a rumor, well it's just that. But I wouldn't take the lack of an announcement as confirmation of denial -- nobody would admit things but they could happen anyway. That's just a lack of news, not a lack of something actually happening. Frankly I think it's a stupid move if MS is serious about committing to their games division but whatever.
