Well, the good news is my Wii is back in my possesion and working fine. Fastest turn-around time I have ever had. Nintendo customer service has been top-notch all the way. I've been dabling with Nights-Journey of Dreams and it's as great as I hoped it would be.
Now, onto Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero III. Those who think Rock Band is better than Guitar Hero III? You are either on crack or love crappy music. I've currently unlocked 47 tracks on Medium difficulty and find the songs to be not only boring for the most part, but some of the lamest-ass tracks can be found here? Tom Sawyer? REALLY? C'mon....
I got the Rock Band set on Christmas Eve. Here we are, the 27th...ony THREE DAYS and my Fender took a collosal dump on me. It was working fine last night, then today I plug it in and it keeps making sounds like I am missing notes. Strumming up works ok, but going down I have to be extremely gentle with it. So being that I want to play this game some more, I unplug my gimped Fender Strat and kick on my Gibson Les Paul GH3 controller. VIOLA! Works like a charm.
Then, I hop online to EA's support site and the morons expect me to not only give them my credit card number, but they want to put a hold for 30 days on $125! Kiss MY ass EA. I opted for the "coffin by mail" option as I can play-arguably better-with my GH3 controller.
This is just yet another reason in a long list of reasons why I hate EA. I laugh at them that Activision is tearing them a new one. I guess I will hop on Xbox Live and check out what songs are available for download. They have to be better than the stock crap on the disc. Molly Hatchet? Rush? Boston? David Bowie? Ugh....
Further comparing Rock Band to GH3, RB clocks in at what, 58 tracks? GH3 has over 70 on the disc and I got SEVEN free download tracks from Xbox Live! Then you have stuff like the Scorps, G'N'R, Kiss, Slayer, Iron Maiden and the BETTER tracks by bands like the Stones with Paint It Black.
All in all, Rock Band IS a fun game at heart. But the controller failures are beyond rediculous, no stand-alone equipment to be found on the shelves and a sub-par track listing compared to Guitar Hero makes it the lesser game. If there were no hardware issues and the track listing was better, I would wholeheartedly give the nod to Rock Band. I especially love the customization!
But right now, I guess I am too pissed at EA for my own good.
