gameboy advanced or advanced sp?

i'm wanting to buy one for each of my kids but dont want to find out that the advanced sp has problems due to the flip style screen
my q is , has anyone had any problems with this?
and which one would you recommend ...
my 9 yr old is a ps2 player and will be getting his own computer for xmas (i'm just tired of sharing the one i generally use)
my daughter is only 7 and basically only plays barbie online (shhh she's young she doesnt know better) so isnt as advanced in gaming as my son is

I have both...and I would get the SP because you wouldn't have to worry about batteries. The flip style screen has caused me no problems so far...

one person i chatted to said the screen was sorta dark on the SP

I think that person was confused. The original GBA has the horrible screen, not the SP.

I can play this at night in the car (not driving of course) and it's easier to see because of it's light. No problems with my flipflop screen so far either. Toodles.

Get the SP!! My 2 & 5 year olds use it with no problem!

The original GBA has that problem. The sp fixed it by adding a light that you can turn on to make the screen brighter.

The SP is better in all ways and it is more in the classic shape of a Game Boy. Go with the SP.

the light problem is on the regular. the sp has a built in light for use day or night, light or dark
