Fasa Founder Tinkering with Shadowrun Again
Jordan Weisman has started a new studio and reclaimed his IPs.
by Daemon Hatfield

December 7, 2007 - Jordan Weisman, founder of Fasa Interactive and former creative director for Microsoft's entertainment division, has formed a new game studio called Smith & Tinker. Fasa was closed earlier this year following the troubled release of Shadowrun. Previous to that launch, Weisman had also worked on the MechWarrior series for Microsoft.

Smith & Tinker has announced through its website that it has licensed the rights to several of Weisman's previous creations from Microsoft. Shadowrun, MechWarrior, Crimson Skies, are back in Weisman's hands. Smith & Tinker isn't ready to announce its plans for each property, but says its goal is "to surprise and delight old fans, while welcoming new fans to these fantastic worlds."

The company says it aims to "reinvent play for the connected generation."

I liked Crimson Skies.

FASA had their name attached to the MechAssault games too (I loved the second one)... I wonder what's to become of that franchise?

Yes. Crimson Skies. An online sensation, this one would become.

Didn't MechWarrior evolve into MechAssault? (Note, finally got a hold of a MechAssault...on the DS)

I wouldn't mind seeing a next-gen MechWarrior/Assault. Chromehounds held my attention for just a short while, but it just wasn't MA. I missed being able to jump in and out of various mechs and other vehicles.

Honestly, I don't care much for the other two (Shadowrun, Crimson Skies) especially if Shadowrun is another FPS.

Yay! There's hope for Shadowrun yet.
