Since I havent seen any references to this, I thought I would share for those that dont know. Toys R Us is having their "buy 2 get 1 of equal or lesser value free" for Xbox and PS2 games. I guess I missed the GC sale last week, damn. I picked up a few games today including:

D&D Heroes
Castlevania:LoI
Crimson Skies
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Haunted Mansion-xbox
Voodoo Vince

So far I have played HM and GbtG, both with the wife. She loves them both and she is not a gamer by any means. I find them both fun to play. HM is a puzzle/action game with Disney's Haunted Mansion as the backdrop. GbtG is not really a platformer, but more of a beat'em up with great style. Which ever reviewer claimed the controls and camera were bad, obviously isnt much of a gamer or has never played Smash TV/Robotron, as the controls are in that style and the camera isnt a problem you can move it right/left as needed. For that matter, I guess the Hunter game's controls must suck also, as they use the same scheme with the joysticks. Maybe the gameplay is a bit repetitive, but hey what beat'em up isnt. BTW, the presentation of the game is excellent with its comicbook style storytelling.

My opinion on Ghoulies is that the Xbox needs a game like this. Easy to pick up and play with a cute look. In other words, a game targeted more toward kids. You can definitely see the Rare style coming thru. Some say why? Why put a game like this out when the Xbox demographics wont support this type of game, because the Xbox needs to cater to other demographics. All great systems in the past have had something for everyone. Those systems, IMO, include the NES, PS1, and the SNES/Genesis. They all had their strengths/weaknesses, but they all covered the gammit of genres. If the Xbox wants to continue to be 2nd/3rd, then putting games like this out is a bad idea, however if they want to make a play for #1, games like GbtG, no matter how simplistic the gameplay is, fill a hole and need to be on the system. Now where are those stupid JRPG's everyone gets off on. JMHO.

Cant wait to play the other games with all I've been reading about them, especially Crimson Skies.

Now run out and get some games.

D&D Heroes is another good one for you and the wife to sit down and play together. It's a great co-op experience halfway between Balder's Gate and Gauntlet. One of the first times I've heard my wife ask me "Do you want to play our game now?"

So far, I really like HM. I dont think there will be much replay value to it, as once you know the puzzles that's it. But the puzzles so far have made me think and as far as I'm concerned are somewhat clever. There is action involved. I am playing on normal and although not overtly hard right now, I still have a way to go, the difficulty picks up as the game is progressing. Nightmare difficulty, the hardest, looks like it would probably give a good challenge.

The game is simple in its approach, free the 999 ghosts in the mansion. In order to do this you need to activate the light switch in each room, but you must first solve the puzzle to get to the light switch. Added in are mean ghosts and spiders that you have to fight while solving the puzzle. Bottom line: I think its fun and may even come back to it to play on nightmare, but that's me. Would give it an 8/10, if you like Disney's HM, the ride, I'd give it a 9/10 as I think it really grabs the spirit, ha-ha, of the ride.

You got that right! Thanks for the heads up, shark man!

Dang, I just wish I knew that this sale was coming up sooner, though!
I'd just picked up Crimson Skies and Music Mixer not days before (the sale started). Doh!

Hopefully they'll still have copies available of Top Spin and Rainbow Six 3 on Friday. Now all I've got to do is find a good third game to get. I'm thinking it's between: Time Crisis 3, Castlevania, or Gladius. Or perhaps even Jak II, or GBTG - though I wouldn't be "maximizing my savings" if I chose one of those $39.99 games, would I?

C'mon people... let's get some more of those impressions of Castlevania and Jak II up... Glockstar's undecided!!!

And oh, thanks for yours, sharky.
This post was most educational. :D
