My kids want a new Game system, which one do you prefer? Looking for info about video quality, realism, variety of games available, games for all ages. (PS2, X-BOX, Game Cube, etc)

You came to a good source for gaming info on all three consoles you listed. A good start would be to skim through the three forums: PS2, Game Cube & Xbox for feedback on game titles.
Also, there is some "colorful" commentary of individual interpretation of which console serves which age group & interest best. View this here:

If money conservation is important to you, Gamecube is cheapest. You can buy a system for 99 bucks and a cheap memory card for 10. One more controller for about 19 bucks. So $130 dollars for the whole kit and kaboodle. I personally like the XBOX and Gamecube. XBOX you can play online to your cable modem and play online which is very kewlies. The XBOX has it's own hard drive so you don't need to buy memory cards. Playstation 2 is kewlies, but i think it's getting old. I'm 17 and play the Gamecube and XBOX the most. Gamecube is great for kids with Mario and friends and there are not a lot of "BAD" or offensive games on their system. Mario Kart is coming out in 3 weeks and looks to be one of the best multiplayer games ever for any system! That's my advice. All are great, but PS2 is in last in my opinion.

If your kids are small kids, then Gamecube all the way.
