Remember Rowans Battle of Britain? when it was realeased about 3 years ago it was a jittery, buggy combat sim with innacurate mediocre graphics. A development team of mod enthusiasts have resurrected it here http://www.bob-ma.org/ if you download the patches artworkmodpack 1.3 and BOB version 0.96 total about 18mb you get a totally transformed great looking sim with new cockpits, clouds, effects and terrain and you dont have to fiddle with skins and sounds like other mods its one complete install. Heres a thread with screenshots of how it actually looks now http://oldsite.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=40;t=006564
I installed it myself about a week ago and its great, I actually hated the sim when it first came out.

Wow, thanks for sharing but you've posted this topic in the wrong board. This is the Sports games forum.

It's also the simulation board Frag I know it's bizarre but I didn't build the thing.
Hey Wolfbiscuits, you play EAW? I just reinstalled it on the new machine with several of the mods that I downloaded for it awhile ago. It's a great sim, and has also been improved with better graphics from the mods (I especially like the one that gets rid of those horrible 3D forests that look like checkerboard squares). To get the briefing screens to work in XP I had to add a registry entry under video. Other than that, it works great.

Oh well, I didn't know that. Talk about super-bizarre!

Aku, yeah you thanked me for my review of EAW that made you try the new stuff like starting at max188 site, and using EAW control to increase screen resolution remember? Like you I changed my system (8 months ago?) and never got round to putting all that stuff back on, thats one of the problems you needed at LEAST a dozen different files installed to get it looking good. I had so much added to my old version that I think I corrupted it, I even changed the main menu screens and barrack room music. The mod community still love EAW and threres talk of a total install pack like the one just done for Rowans Battle of Britain so you dont have to fiddle with dozens of skins and effects. EAW must have been totaly re-invented about 5 times over, the best place to look for updates is the EAW board at simhq where it still gets about 20 posts per day, the latest thing they're enthusing about is a Battle of Britain add on/download which is just finished I think, oh and someones made a flyable B-17 complete with bombsights. I dont really think I'll get around to doing it all again.

At the moment I want to have a go at Battle of Britain, it really does look good theres even more planes in the sky than EAW, like hundreds! and it's also really tough to survive, certainly not a "lite" sim. Also the campaign is dynamic and very deep and has wargame elements. If you fly as RAF you have to manage your recources and use some planning to defend the country, you can actually get sacked as commander if you start to fail! Or as Luftwaffe you choose all the targets to strike, plan the raids, airfields, factories etc and you have a larger variety of aircraft at your disposal you can also fly as a gunner in the Dorniers and Hienkels, I nearly always fly on the Luft side in a sim as the 109 is my fav WWII plane. It's having the time to fit it all in, some of these campaigns look like they need about a year to complete.

Hah-hah, I must be getting old! So that was you who told me about all that stuff. I totally forgot, sorry. Well, thanks again, because those mods and EAW Control are really cool.
